  1. Apply through the Communication Science and Disorders Centralized Application System: CSDCAS application portal
  2. Students must also apply for graduate admission to ETSU through the ETSU Graduate School application

Separate application fees are required by both CSDCAS and the ETSU Graduate School

When to Apply



Applications open on July 15, 2025 for the Fall 2026 application cycle.
Early admission cycle: To be considered for the early admisison cycle your applications must be submitted by November 1, 2025

Final application deadline is February 1, 2026

All application materials, including transcripts and reference letters, must be received through CSDCAS by 11:59 PM ET on the application deadline. It is the applicant’s responsibility to monitor their application status and notifications and consult CSDCAS if there is any question about the application status.Applications that have not reached a COMPLETE status by the application deadline, will not be considered.

  • Application Information

    The Audiology Program is selective and admits up to 12 students to begin matriculation in the fall semester (August) of each year. The program is 4 years in length.

    Applications to both CSDCAS and the ETSU Graduate School must be submitted no later than February 1. Applications will be reviewed in the order that they are received and completed. Applications are available using the links above.

    Applicants who are considered potential candidates will be required to participate in an interview. Personal interviews may be conducted by telephone or video conferencing. The admission committee will contact the applicant to schedule this interview, tentatively 1-2 weeks after the application due date.

  • Eligibility Requirements

    In addition to meeting the requirements of the Graduate School, students seeking admission to the Doctor of Audiology program must also meet the Audiology program’s eligibility requirements. To be considered for admission, applicants must have completed, submitted, or met the requirements in items 2-7 below by the application deadline for the application to be eligible for consideration.


    Applicants may be enrolled in prerequisite courses (see #8) or in process of completion of the bachelor's degree (see #1) at the time of application; however, you must be able to successfully complete all prerequisite courses and/or earn the bachelor's degree by the end of the summer semester prior to the fall semester for which you are applying.


    Requirements:

    1. Attainment of a bachelor's degree* from a regionally accredited institution (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools or equivalent);
    2. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) in all undergraduate coursework;
    3. Have an upper-level coursework (last 2 years) GPA of 3.25 (on a 4.0 scale);
    4. Submit official transcript from ALL schools attended via CSDCAS;
    5. Three recommendations (submitted in CSDCAS);
      1. We encourage all applicants to seek letters from former or current faculty and instructors that can speak to your academic abilities and potential success as a graduate student and clinical preceptors (from your experiences shadowing audiology clinics) who can speak of your passion and motivation for a career in audiology.
    6. Upload your Resume or Curriculum Vitae (submitted in CSDCAS);
    7. Personal Statement (submitted in CSDCAS);
      1. A short essay of 200-300 words addressing: What attracted you to the field of Audiology and what have you done to learn more about it? What specific strengths do you possess that you believe sets you on the path to be a successful clinical audiologist? How does completing the AuD program at ETSU fit in your long-term career goals?
      2. We expect responses that address these questions fully, demonstrate originality, and reflect good writing skills. Please refrain from merely paraphrasing your resume or just repeating platitudes about a desire to help others.
    8. Completion of the prerequisite courses with no grade in any prerequisite course below a "C" (2.0 on a 4.0 scale);

    *While we require completion of bachelor's degree, we do not recommend or require a particular undergraduate program of study.

    The ETSU AuD program no longer requires the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) for admission

  • Prerequisites
    • At least 8 credit hours in lab sciences (chemistry, biology, or physics).


    • At least 6 credit hours of college level mathematics of which 3 credit hours must be statistics.

    • At least 6 credit hours of of behavioral and or social sciences such as abnormal, developmental, and/or experimental psychology, sociology or anthropology.
  • Essential Functions and Technical Standards
    • A tuberculin skin test or X-ray indicating no risk of communicability;
    • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification;
    • Professional liability insurance coverage;
    • Criminal background check through TruScreen, Inc.; and
    • The ability to perform, either unaided or with reasonable accommodation, the following essential functions for clinical practicum in communicative disorders:
      • Critical thinking skills sufficient for clinical judgment;
      • Interpersonal skills sufficient for effective interaction with individuals and families from a variety of cultural backgrounds;
      • Communication skills sufficient for effective written and spoken interaction with others;
      • Physical mobility sufficient to move from room to room and maneuver in small spaces;
      • Gross and fine motor abilities sufficient for manipulation of evaluation and treatment instruments and materials;
      • Visual acuity sufficient for client evaluation and treatment;
      • Hearing sensitivity and auditory discrimination are sufficient for client evaluation and treatment.

  • The ETSU application system portal will also allow applicants to track the progress of their ETSU application and view the decision when available.

It is recommended that applicants use the same email address from their CSDCAS application for their ETSU application account.
